Glenn has had an outstanding FFA career during the past four years, and has re ceived recognition in activities ranging from public speaking to singing. Glenn Weber Named 1966 Region II Star Farmer For the past two years, the Region II Star Farmer award has gone to a Lancas ter iCounty Future Farmer of America This year that tradition has been carried into its third year with the recent naming of Glenn S. Weber. Mohnton R 2, to that honor. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andiew Weber. Glenn, a 17-year-old mem ber of the Grassland FFA chapter, is a senior at Gar den Spot High School. At Special Board Meeting The matter of policy on ownership of equipment which is used in milk testing work by the Red Rose Dairy Herd Improvement Association was clarified last Friday night at a special meeting of the Board of Directors, held in the meeting room at Agway, Inc , Lancaster. The issue came up for dis cussion at the recent quarter ly directors’ meeting when it was reported that one of the testers had purchased his own milk-o-meters, and to that extent was operating in dependently of the Associa tion. The directors were un able to resolve the matter in their regular meeting, and Jim Esbenshade, Farm Mechanics Contest Winner James Esbenshade is a re cent graduate of Solanco High School in the Vocational agri culture program. He is also a first-rate mechanic, as evi denced in bis $15,000 inven tory in 'farm equipment which he accumulated by “fixing up” 'old, depreciated machinery. According to association President Samuel Dum, it was resolved that “no tester will own income-producing, DHIA equipment, or be a par ty to any arrangement to circumvent the intent of this sectfion” of policy. A tester could conceivably own some of the testing equipment, Dum said, providing he made no charge for customer use of that equipment. The board also decided to increase its number of milk o-meters to 18, and to dis tribute these equally among three locations in the county —northeast, central, and southern. The association presently owns 12 units and these are concentrated in one location.
