One of the new methods enables a State to qualify for TB free status if during a 2- yeai period of time 30 per cent of the cattle population over two years of age have been marketed, identified as to the State of origin, and slaughtered at approved plants and found free of bovine tu berculosis. The other new method makes it possible for an area a county or block of counties to qualify for free status if official records show that all cattle in the area over two years of age have had at least two successive negative tu berculin tests, not less than three and not more than six years apart .The methods adopted in 1964 require that an area can be qualified tuberculosis free if no bovine TB is found during two successive reaccreditation periods that cover at least 12 successive years, or if during at least three successive years 15 per cent or more of the cattle over two years of age have been identified as_ to herd of origin through slaugh ter at an accredited establish ment.
