LANCASTER POULTRY CENTER Highest Price Since Mar. Broilers hit 19 cents for the first time since March 28, and averaged 18 53 for the highest sale average since that date. In January and Febru ary, the price of broilers went to more than 20 cents for one week after some extremely low prices, but the high prices of last winter gradually slipped to below 15 cents and have climbed very slowly to the present. In the corresponding sale last year at the Lancaster Poultry Center, broilers rang ed 13 3 to 14.8 At the September 13 auc tion a total of 62,700 broilers in 15 lots ranged from 18 4 to 19. All broilers were sold, but five lots of heavier birds were “no sale” at bids ot 19 to 22.7. Only five lots in addition to the broilers were sold; these were 8,650 pullets which cross ed the block at 23 to 25. The complete sale offered 76,650 head m 25 lots and sold 71,350 birds in 20 lots.
