Lee DeLong. The son of Howard De- Long and the late Mrs. De- Long, Quarryville R 2, Lee has carried on a farming pro' gram including fattening of swine, corn, tobacco and Holstein Dairy Cattle. , Lee won the tractor driv ing contest at Solanco fair last year. RAY HOSTETTER Ray Hostetter, son of Mr.' and Mrs. Eby Hostetter, Gap Rl, was one of the rural youth from Lancaster Coun ty to attend the AIC meeting last year at the University of Illinois and was on one of the youth panels at the meeting. Graduated with honors from Pequea Valley High School in 1959, Ray is en gaged in farming on the home place While in school he was a member of the Na. tional Honor Society during his 10th, 11th, and 12th years, being elected presi dent of the organization dur ing his last year in school. Ray was editor in chief of the school newspaper, a member -of the student coun cil and valedictorian of the graduating class Ray has held the offices of secretary, reporter, and president of the local chap ter, being elected secretary twice in the four years in school. His farming program has included 13 sow projects, four gilts, two dairy calves and one dairy heifer, one fattening hog project, one capon project and 3 acres of field corn. To aid his plans to go in to the dairy business, Glenn is a junior member in the Holstein Breeders Associa tion. He was a nf the senior play cast and the treasurer of the Garden Spot 4-H Club. MOUNTVILLE GAP eludes dairy, com and broil ers. EL WOOD HEISEY The 17 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. David Z. Hei sey, Manheim R 2, is a sen ior at Manheim Central Hi gh School. Elwood is at pre sent the Chaplain of the County Chapter FFA and historian in the local bran ch. During his 11th grade he served the local chapter as assistant Chaplain. His project program incl udes seven acres of tomat oes, two gilts, one acre of wheat and one half acre of sweet com. He has also rai sed onions and strawberries. Elwood has varied inte rests as evidenced by his participation on the varsity wrestling team at his scho ol for the past two years. He was awarded a giH in the school’s swine ring, a master towato grower’s cer tificate, and in 1958 won fir st place in the Rural Youth contest at the Manheim Fair ROY R. MENTZER Serving his second term as secretary of the local chapter, Roy had served one term as treasurer prior to this year. He represented the county as a delegate to the state convention FFA in June 1959 The son of Mr and Mrs Ellis K. Mentzer, New Hol land R 2, Roy assists his par ents or> the home farm. He has at the present time six dairy cows and 10 dairy heifers, four yorkshire sows, 25 fattening swine, 500 tur keys, 5 acres of tobacco, 10 acres of corn, and six acres of oats in his farming pro gram. The livestock is 100% ownership, but the crops are farmed on the halves with his father The dairy cattle are all purebred Ayrshires.
