In addition to the Reserve Championship, Paes collect ed the senior championship and was on hand to help his father, John Paes collect hon ors for the Junior Get of Sire and cow with best udder. In the Holstein division of the show, Robert Kauffman, Manheim Rl, took every championship trophy offered to adult dairymen. Beef Tour Is Scheduled October 15 is the date of the fourth annual Lancaster County Livestock tour for be ef feeders and hog produce rs, County Agent Max Smith announced this week. Included in the tour, sche duled to leave the CTC bus barns on East Chestnut St., at 7:30 a.m , is a visit to the Consolidated Dressed Beef Company to see slaughter and processing of beef. Hog slaughter and processing of pork wi*l be viewed at the Morrell Phoelin plant, both the above slaughter houses are in Philadelphia. Afternoon activities will in elude a trip to the farm of Vincent Neamond, Doylesto wn, Bucks County to observe a cattle and hog feeding oper ation. Mr. Neamond each year feeds out 450 steers and 100 hogs on a ration of bread and cracker crumbs supple mented with Urea. On the return trip, a typi cal Lancaster County steer feeding operation featuring labor saving devices on the farm of Edward Nolt, New Holland HI, will be visited. Don ald Hershey, Manheim Rl; 6 (Turn to page 12) $2 Per Year Bruce Kulp Beef Champ At Manheim Twelve year old Bruce Kulp, Manheim R 4, showed his second steer, a sleek Hereford, to the Grand Championship at the Man heim Farm Show -Wednes day, beating out a six year veteran, Glenn Foreman, of Manheim R 3. Kulp, an eighth grade stu dent at Manheim central school is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kulp Last year in his first outing in 4- H competition, he showed his steer to third place in the class at Manheim. Winner of Reserve honors was Glenn Foreman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Fore man. At the 1956 Manheim Farm Show, Foreman exhib ited the Grand Champion, and then went on to capture the same prize at the State show in Harrisburg. His steer this year was bred by Mark Hosier, Manheim R 3, and beat out a half brother, shown by Wilbur Hosier, on the way to the Reserve plac ing. Champion for the Short horn breed was shown by Terry Petticoffer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amon Petticoffer, Elizabethtown R 3. Foreman came back in both the. fitting and show manship; contests to place, but the best he could do was second. Top showman of the day Miller, of Manheim R 2 who also show ed the fattest steer.
