Poultry Group To Feed 150,000 At Plow Contest Have you ever fed 150,000 peo ple? That’s the job undertaken by the Pennsylvania Poultry Fed eration at their Bth Annual Poul try Festival to be held in Her shey, Pennsylvania, August 21 through 24, during Pennsylvania Dutch Days and in conjunction with the NationaL Plowing Con tests The expected crowd of 150,- 000 persons attending the four days will require enough chicken to extend one mile longer than the Golden Gate Brtdge Twenty-seven and one-half tons of chickens reaching six miles will be barbecued at a record pace of 2,250 halves every hour on five 48 foot barebecue pits To accomplish this 560 volunteers will work 4,000 hours within a 52 hour barbecuing period In all, 50,000 halves of chickens will be barbecued. The condiments necessary to barbecue the chickens include 300 gallons of vinegar and 700 pounds of butter One thousand dozen rolls per day will be used for the chicken dinner and 200 pound loaves of bread will be used in sandwiches In addition, the Fes tival Committee ordered 30,000 butter patties, 200 galons of egg nog, 200 gallons of chicken corn soup, 450 dozens of pickled eggs and 400 dozens of five cent bags of potato chips. The Pennsylvania Poultry Fes tival will be the largest mass feed ing ever undertaken by any oth er poultry festival .in the East Those attending Hershey’s agri cultural events will receive the best nutritive food available at any national affair. This method will ex- Farm Women to Hold Annual Convention Plans have been made to hold the annual convention of the twenty-four Societies of Farm Women on November 1 at the Hempfield High School, Landis ville. The executive committee which met recently on the lawn of the Coleram Baptist Church to make tentative plans urges each society to prepare items for a bazaar table which will be one of the features of the convention.
