Subscribers to Lancaster Farming Big Aerial Spray For Gypsy Moths Planned by State The biggest and most extensive aerial spray program against gypsy moth caterpillars in Penn sylvania is being prepared for by the State Department of Agricul ture. With S-Day less than three mouths away, the Bureau of Plant Industry is receiving' bids from contract spray operators to apply DDT solution, the most effective spray material, to about 500,000 acres of land in six eastern coun ties. State Agriculture Secretary William L. Henning said ground work is being laid in Carbon, Luzerne, Pike, Monroe, Wayne and Schuylkill Counties where aerial and ground teams will converge in early spring to help eradicate one of the nation’s most costly pests.
