Mrs. Willis Rohrer, president, officiated at the last meeting of the group. They met at the home of Mrs. Lloyd H. Heir, R 6 Lan caster, in a masquerade party. Prizes were awarded; Prettiest — Mrs. Willis Rohrer; Ugliest Mrs. Harold Ranch; Funniest Mrs. Lester Landis; Most Orig inal—Mrs. Carl Diller. The group will help fold Christmas seals for Rossmere on Oot. 30, and several members will attend the County Farm Wo mens' Society Convention at Manheim Township High School. The annual banquet this a 30th anniversary banquet will be Nov. 17 by Society 12 at Mor ton’s Restaurant, Rohrerstown. The Society met recently at the home of Mrs. Willis Glick, Jr., R 2 Conestoga. Invocation was 'given by the Rev. M. Harry Mark, United Bre thren Church pastor at Neffsville. The Rev. Mark also addressed the banquet. Entertainment included readings and skits by Caroline, William and Robert Wilson, and accordion solos by Nicky Herr. SOCIETY 20 HAS RUMMAGE SALE Society of Farm Women 20 to day are holding a rummage sale at 32 South Duke, Lancaster Plans for the sale were made re cently at a meeting in the home of Mrs Dale Miller, RD Oxford Assisting hostessed were Mrs Hayes Hastings and Mrs William Crawford, Jr. Mrs. Miller led the devotional service and Mrs. Parke Reinhart, president, was in charge of the meeting. ~ Mrs. Glenn Ressel showed col ored movies of her trips to Flor ida' and the New England area, and trips made by Society 15 to New York City and Hershey. Next meeting of Society 20 will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 1 at the home Mrs Glen Knecht, RD Kirkwood. DOGS TREE MONKEY v IRVING, Texas For three nights in succession, hounds in the neighborhood of Mrs. Virgil Bartons home have treed a long tailed grey monkey. The pet monkey eluded capture by the dogs by skipping across the tree-tops. NEILL Championships at the third An nual Manheim Community Farm Show steer division were divided Thursday last week by a brother and sister, the son and daughter of Mr and Mrs. Harrison Fore man, R 3 Manheim Glen Foreman’s 860 - pound black steei, “Rex,” topped a class of 13 Angus, then moved on to win the purple over his sister, Joane, whose deep red Hereford placed as reserve Both youths were dressed in' the green and white of 4H, even to candy-striped green and white show sticks. In one sense, this was the bro ther - sister combination’s first break into the upper ranks of steer shows, although Glen, 15, placed first in Angus weight class at the 1953 Lancaster Round Up, and seventh in 1955 A freshman at Manheim Cen tral, Glen tells that this is the third steer he has exhibited. Joane, 13, an eighth grader at Manheim Central, showed sheep two years and placed third with a pen of three at the Farm Show, and reserve champion at Lancas ter with lambs This was her first year showing a steer. Weather Thursday'was damp, dismal, dreary as R. G. Waltz, Montgomery County agricultur al agent from Norristown, moved through the classes of Angus under protection of the dairy tent. Before long, the showers stopped, and Herefords were judged outdoors.
