Prices Go Lower In Tuesday Sale Of Broilers Here Lancaster Poultry Exchange (Rohrerstown, Pa.) (Sales Re port, Sale 152, Tuesday, June 5, 1956) Sharp declines were marked in the Tuesday sale of 43,800 broilers in 14 lots at the Lancaster Poultry Exchange, with a final tally showing a drop to an average of 19 71 from a range of 19 to 20■& cents. Nine teen lots totaling 58,100 birds were offered. Thursday’s aver age was 2103. Heavier marketings are said responsible for part of the de cline Last month 679,045 birds were auctioned, or 178,950 more than the corresponding month last year. Prices in May 1955 ranged from 26.4 to 28 5, in May 1956 from 20 to 215. A registered Guernsey cow, Herberts Glorious Rose, owned by Herbert Schiffer, West Ches ter, has completed an official production record of 11,652 lbs of milk and 555 lbs of fat, ac cording to the American Guern sey Cattle Club. This production, made in the AGCC’s Herd Improvement Registry, is equal to 5500 quarts of high-quality milk. “Rose” was a junior two year old, met calving requirements and was milked two times daily moderate, and hejavy, and the precipita tion amounts which determine these clas ses are obtained from an analysis of many years of record at many stations.
