By Megan Resser Sports Reporter mkrls7@psu.edu As intercollegiate athletics return to Penn State Harrisburg, the men's soccer team has already made quite a name for themselves. The team is playing in the PSUAC, which pits them against teams from other Penn State campuses. Coached by Scotland native and former professional player Mark "R.J." Brown and his assistant Chaz Vennie, the team has a strong roster of 19 players. Although many of the players rotate positions, the defensive players generally include Matt McNichol, Mike Marion, Cedric Goddevirnd, Dan Kutz, and Steve Molek. State c,ampuses, PSH men's soccer is starting off the season vvWcarpinwa 7-2 record. include Chris Shisko, George Christofidis, Daniel Saenz, Jordan Lightbourne, Jeff Fink, and Zane Martin. Forwards are Brian Clements, Afolabi Oyelowo, Andy Palacios, Rick Ribeiro, Mike Edwards, Mike Bartol, and Alaa Faden. The goalkeeper is Andrew Geib. The team has already played nine games, earning a 7-2 record for themselves. They started the season off strong by beating Penn State Schuylkill (3-2), Penn State Abington (3-0), and Penn State Mont Alto (4-1), before falling to Penn State York (4-1) in a hard fought game. Not letting that deter them, they resumed their winning ways by beating Penn College of Technology (3-2), Penn State Mont Alto (4-0), and Penn State Wilkes-Barre (7-1). Perhaps the Photo by Maruja Rosario most frustrating game of the season came last Thursday night at home, when the Harrisburg team lost to Penn State Delaware (1-0) in the second of two overtime periods. They again stepped up and did what needed to be done to guarantee themselves first place in the PSUAC by defeating Penn State Scranton (5-2) on Monday, October 3. With only four games left before the playoffs, the team is focusing on one game at a time. On Thursday, October 6, they travel to Penn State Hazelton. The last home game of the season is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. this Saturday, October 8. The team will then focus on exacting revenge in their rematches with Penn State Delaware on Monday, October 10 and Penn State York on Saturday, October 15.
