For each commencement ceremony, morning and afternoon, he offered separate thoughts and closing remarks. For both, he spoke of dreams. In the morning ceremony, Bruhn talked about determina tion and persistence. He told the graduates that a college degree is the "mechanism to begin to shape your life" that requires the application of "com mon sense, curiosity and a determination to succeed." "Decide what it is you want in your life," he said. "Imagine it vividly. Then act on your desires. There are no impossible dreams." "You, too, can become anything you NEWS want to through the magic of believing. You can do anything if you focus on how to do it rather than on why you can't," Bruhn said. He concluded his morning remarks with, "Follow your dreams. Embrace what you love and never give up." In the provost's afternoon remarks he talked about setting and reaching goals by visualizing dreams coming true. Bruhn closed his speech by advising the afternoon graduates to, "Decide what your next goal is and go after it. Live your life from your hopes, not from your memories and you will experi ence more celebrations like this one." Penn State Harrisburg will cele brate its next com- mencement on December 14, 1996.
