Lauffer was a star soccer player at Slippery Rock in 1968 he was hired to teach physical fitness and to coach soccer and tennis. Soon after he became the athletic director, and was the face of Behrend athlet ics until his death in 1997. The Herb Lauffer tour nament is held annually in memory of all he did to help the Behrend soccer program. showed he can help out as well in the return game.
