Candidates are already gear
ing up for the 2010 Midterm
Congressional elections where
local business owner Paul
Huber is hoping to unseat the
incumbent Kathy Dahlkemper
in Pennsylvania's third con
gressional district.
According to his website,
Huber was the President and
CEO of Seco/Warwick Corpora
tion, which was a leading
global manufacturing company
based out of Crawford County.
As the Chief Executive, Huber
was responsible for leading the
company and setting the direc
tion for all of the business. He
has had a long history with this
area. He was born and raised
in Meadville, and has been a
lifelong business man.

"My main responsibility was to
organize support for the event
and to peak the interest of stu

If you were not able to make
it to this past Wednesday's
event, look for upcoming op
portunities to become involved
in next year's election. Last
year's election between Rep.
Phil English and Rep. Kathy
Dahlkemper came down to the
wire and was an extremely
tough campaign, and next
year's campaign and the fol
lowing election are expected to
be no different.
For more information on
Huber, or to become involved
with College Republicans, con

Campus debate
rescheduled
ALLI HEITZENRATER
humanities writer
The debate between the Col
lege Democrats and the Col
lege Republican has been
rescheduled. The debate was
originally scheduled for this
past Wednesday, and is now
rescheduled for January 21,
2010 at 7:00 pm in Bruno's.
According to Josh Snyder,
President of College Democ
rats, the primary reason the
debate was rescheduled was
because he and Dan Smith,
Vice President of College Re
publicans felt that having the
debate so close to finals week
would negatively affect the
students' performances. "We
felt that we could have a better
event in January then if we
held it so close to finals and
the end of the semester," says
Snyder. .
Both leXthat way for both'
the students involved in the
debate and also those students
interested in attending.
Topics that will be argued at
the debate include controver
sial topics such as the war
in Afghanistan, the economy,
gay and lesbian rights, health
care, guns, abortion and cli
mate change. In addition, the
College Democrats and Col
lege Republicans will also be
taking questions from specta
tors in the audience. Free
food will be available.

President Obama this
week announced that more
troops will be sent to fight in
the War in Afghanistan.
Now whether or not you
agree with the war, the deci
sion to send more troops, or
why our troops are over
there in the first place, sup
port them. I recently heard
on the radio that less than
25% of our troops over there
receive mail from their
homes. Especially coming
into the holiday season, now
is one of the best times to
support our troops. Send
them letters, cookies, emails
or whatever else you would
like to. But make sure you
are there for them. Because
as more are leaving, they
need our support more than
ever. Have a safe and happy
holiday season.
