CANTOS BRINGS VOCALS TO LOGAN MUSIC SERIES
Music at Noon: The Logan Wintergarden Series will continue its 14th season
with Cantus, a male vocal ensemble, on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The lunchtime presen
tation, held in the Wintergarden of the Reed Union Building at Penn State Erie,
The Behrend College, is free and open to the public.
Standing in a semi-circle to communicate, self-directed Cantus strives to
create unique a cappella choral performances. The ensemble features ten singers
Brian Arreola, Bradley Erbes, Michael Hanawalt, Albert Jordan and Peter
Zvanovec as tenors; Kelvin Chan and Adam Reinwald as baritones; and Alan
Dunbar, Erick Lichte, and Tim Takach as basses.
Cantus was formed in 1995 at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., by a
group of friends who shared a passion for singing. The group evolved into a
professional vocal chamber ensemble with a very distinct mission. Its members
educate and encourage all people to sing through nontraditional musical selec
tions.
In September, 2002, Cantus released its latest recording titled "...against the
dying of the light." In addition to recordings and performances, Cantus mem
bers work as clinicians with students ranging from elementary school to college
to promote the artistic approach to choral singing.
All of the musical groups incorporate an educational program with audience
interaction into their performances, and each ensemble also performs at Diehl
School, Penn State Behrend's Adopt-a-School partner.
Guests are encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch to enjoy the informality of
this noontime event.
