Agriculturtil News Dean Hunt, of the School of Agriculture, who has been on a leave of absence since last summer, reports a thorough period of study and recreation in Southern France. The Agricultural trai sent out by the Cumberland Valley Railroad will be in charge of the School of Agriculture and Experiment Station It will make a two days' trip, March 10-11, through that farming region. Stops will be made at a number of important points along the route Farmer's ' week will be held at Greenville, Pa., February 27 to March 3, 1911, by' the School of Agriculture and Experiment Station of this college for the benefit of the people of western Pennsylvania. It is believed that many hundreds of practical farmers may be willing to spend four full days with the sci entists of the School of Agriculture and- Experiment Station, who will discuss the problems of practical farmers, stockmen and fruit growers. A thorough course of lectures will be given during this week by members of the faculty from this department. Resolutions. Senior Cotillion. The senior dance committee wishes to remind the members of 1911 that the second number of tt e series will be held in McAllister hall on the evening of March 3rd. Judging from the enjoyable nature of the previous event a goodly number will be present. F. L. Pattee Honored. Prof. Fred Lewis Pattee, of the department of English , Language and Literature, has recently received word that he has been elected a member of the London, England Author's Club. LaVie Notice. Dr. Henry Prentiss Armsby was on February first elected a member of the Royal Society of Arts of Great Britain. The engagment of William J. Garrison 'O7, to Miss Mabel Smith, of Ridgway, has been announced. The Pennsylvania State college school of - mines has been asked to co operate with the United States bureau of mines in preparing an exhibit illus trative of the mining mclustries of the United States for the great inter national exposition to be held at Turin, Italy, during the coming summer. Herr Starke delivered an inter esting lecture on the Geography of Germany last Wednesday even ing before the German Verein. On March 1 he will give a talk on the history of Germany, leading up to the• present political conditions, Everyone is invited to these lec tures. A Prime Hereford steer fecl by the school of Agriculture was exhi bited on foot and carcass before the live stock breeders associations in Harrisburg. The thickness of cov ering, color, texture and marbling of meat, was pronounced almost per fect by those present. A carload of livestock was sent to Harrisburg for demonstration and exhibition purposes. In the car were two pure-bred Aberdeen Angus cows, two Shorthorn steers, two Berkshire and one Chester White brood sows' and four Delaine Mer ino ewe lambs.
