Final arrangements have been made for the "University Dance" to be held by the Harrisburg club in the City Gray, Armory in Harris burg on a Thursday night Dec. 29. A 'great many invitations have been sent out to undergraduates and alumni of Universities and Col leges,, the idea having been to make it strictly a College affair. The committee announces that the patrionesses include many of the most prominent and influential social leaders in the city. The decorations and music will be the best obtainable , in the city, The prompt replies to the invita tions issued indicate a very, large at- iendance. ..: ' The committee wishes to state that if any college man has been overlooked in sending out the in vitations, he is cordially invited. Without doubt this dance will surpass anything hitherto attempted by any of the college clubs and great credit is due the members of the club for their Untiring efforts in planning the occasion. `Mr. J. L. Thompson, 'represent ing McGraw-Hill Publishing com pany, of New York City, spent last Friday and Saturday at the College in the interests of the book publish ing department of the company. Mr. Thompson, who is a Wisconsin man, has visited many of the east ern colleges in the past few weeks ant expressed himself as Wog more favorably impressed with the work carried on here than with that done at many of the othet engineer ing schools. The United States Service corn mission announces an examination to be held 'on December 18-29, 1910, in various cities throughout the United States for industrial teachers, teacher and assistant in the Philippine service. From the eligible list thus secur ed about one hundred American teachers will be selected for service in the Philippine islands. Those appointments will be made during the present school year and ap pointees will be furnished trans portation,earljr enough for them to reach Manila before the opening of school next year. The assignment of these hundred teachers will he as follows : Ten to high school science, ten to industrial subjects, twenty to high and aca demic school subjects, five to do mestic science and home economy, fifty-five as supervising teachers.
