Intercollegiate Debate. [he final debate of the Inter collegiate League of Pennsylvania will take place at Carlisle tomorrow evening, April 10. Swarthmore will uphold the affirmative, and State the negative, of the question, Re : solved, that in Pennsylvania a commission form of municipal gov ernment, based on .the Des Moines System, is preferable to a Mayor and Council System. The team, composed of W. F. H. Wentzel, 'OB, A. A. Borland, 'O9, Morell Smith, 'll, and W. ,R. Lams, 'lO, alternate, will leave to day for Carlisle. The presiding officer will be Dr. J. H. Morgan, Dean of Dickinson college. The judges are the Hon. Henry Houck, Secretary of Internal Affairs, Harrisburg; Prof. Llewellyn Phillips, Bucknell University; and Dr. M. H. Reaser, President of Wilson College, Chambersburg. Mercersburg Club Resolutions Whereas, God in His infinite wis dom has called to Himself Roy Geider, be it Resolved, that the Mercersburg Alumni at the Pennsylvania State College deeply regret the loss of one of their members, and hereby desire to bear witness to his sterling worth as a man and to his courtesy and fidelity with his fellow students; and be it Resolved, that we extend to his family our sympathy in their great bereavement ; and oe it further Resolved, that a copy of these resolutions be published in the State Collegian and in the Mercersburg Alumni Quarterly. THE STATE COLLEGIAN Christian Association Notes Dr J. W. Cochrane, of Philadel phia, will address the Association meeting on Sunday evening, in Room 529, at 6.15 o'clock. The Association announces a lecture on "Immigration". by Dr. E. A. Steiner, of lowa State Col lege, on the evening of Friday, May 15. Dr Steiner is the author of "On the Trail of the Immigrant," and is widely known as one of the foremost experts on immigration in this country. A charge of twenty five cents will be made to cover the cost of the lecture. The following officers have been elected by the Association to serve for the college year, 1908.09; Presi dent, A. A. Borland, 'O9; vice presi dent, J. B. Watson, 'O9; secretary, E. W. Stitt, '10; treasurer, L. M. Fisher, '10; assistant treasurer, W. R. Rhoads, 'll. A few days ago a chapter of the Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity, a professional agricultural organization represented in several other colleges, was installed 'here. The following forestry and agricultural students were initiated at the first meeting by S. R Morris of the Department of Agriculture, Washington: S. L. Faust. P. I. Wrigley, I. T. Yarnell, W. B. Nissley, S. S. Sadler, L. W. Arney, R. H. Thompson, F. S. Welsh, L. N. Skemp, and K. B. Lohmann. Prof. Baker, of the Forestry Department, is one of the supporters of the fraternity ,in the faculty. Junior and Senior Chemists' Trip. The annual inspection trip of the chemists will occur next week un der 'the charge 'of Professors Churchill and Logo. The itinerary will include Pittsburg, Kittanning, Franklin, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Ridgway. It will probable culmi nate with a banquet given by Dr. Pond at Lock Haven. Committee A New Fraternity Organized. Bellefonte Alumni Hold Banquet Bellefonte alumni and former stu dents to the number of forty held a planked shad banquet on Friday evening of last week at the Nittany Country Club near Hecla Park. This was the first affair of the kind given by the Bellefonte Club, and the success of this meeting has war-, ranted making it an annual affair. Col. Chambers, 'Bl, acted as toast master, and the principal addresses were given by Judge Orvis, '76, and Gen. Beaver. The latter referred especially to the coming Commence ment and the plans for making the College one of the great universities of the country. Tire Passion Play. "The Passion Play at Ober ammergau," an illustrated lecture, will be delivered in the Auditorium Friday evening at 8.00 o'clock, by Dr. Joseph W. Cochrane, Corres ponding Secretary of the Board of Education "of the Presbyterian Church. The lecture will be illus trated by views taken by Dr. Coch rane, who has witnessed the play. The subject is one which always proves interesting to an audience, and the ability of Dr. Cochrane should make the lecture well worth attending. COLLEGE NOTES. The annual publication of the col lege catalog has been delayed some what this year by the proposed re organization of many of the courses. There is no definite imformation at this time in regard to this reorgani zation, but a statement will probably be made soon. . Crutchley, who played on State's varsity baseball team last year, has entered Dickinson and will play on their team this spring. At the'annual . basketball banquet held Monday evening, J.
