THE STATE COLLEGIAN mountain of strength to our varsity by his cool, steady, and nervy play ing, a man whose quiet but ever present influence has always worked for the betterment of his compan- Right end "Junior" Campbell is one of the most consistent and un assuming football players that any college has turned out. Suffering from all kinds of physical reverses, "Junior" has always responded to the call of the coaches and worked in that cherry manner characteristic of a successful gridiron warrior In Zink we find another willing worker who for three years labored faithfully in the backfield before re ceiving varsity recognition, perform ing his tasks in the orderly style pe culiar to himself. "Jack" Hand has battled steadily for four years to win a place on the varsity. "Jack" has offered his services as only a man can who has his college at heart, to help develop winning teams. Manager Wright deserves the credit of successfully arranging and executing one of the hardest schedules that any State team has ever had It is here that the shrewd business ability in obtaining games and providing for the financial welfare of the team is required and "Norm" has fulfilled his duti6. Of the new men who are to form the nucleus of next year's team spe cial mention must be made of -the ex cellent work of McCleary, Cyphers, Vorhis, Hirshman, Welsh, and Smith. Anyone who has followed the playing of these six men during the season can have nothing but the brightest hopes tor a winning team in 1908. Captain Harry M. Burns, 'OB, familiarly known as "Bobby" Burns, entered State in the fall of 1904. He was born at West Chester, Pa., on April 26, 1884, and obtained his preparatory educa tion at the West Chester High School and at Bellefonte Academy. "Bobby's" football career began in his freshman year immediately after he had entered college. In a short time he imbibed the spirit which is characteristic of all State men, especially her athletic men. He worked diligently on the foot ball squad during his first two years and was rewarded in his junior year by a varsity position at left end. The football season of 1906 wit nessed the playing of Burns as that of one of the greatest ends in the country. Attempts by opposing teams to run plays around his end were always broken up in a spec tacular manner. At the close of the season "Bobby" justly received the honor of being elected captain for the 1907 season. During the season just passed, he proved to be a capable leader, do ing steady, consistent work in his usual place at left end. His de parture this year will be regretted by all State men. Senior Electrical Reception Prof. and Mrs. Jackson, who are moving into the residence recently vacated by Prof. L. E. Reber, en tertained the Senior Electricals last Wednesday evening.
