At a meeting of the upper classes held on Monday evening several changes were made in the rules governing the cider scrap. It will be noted that the principal changes are those affecting the place, the length of the contest, the method of counting, and the kind of shoes to be worn. The revised rules are as follows: 1. The cider scrap shall be held in the afternoon of the last Saturday of October at a place to ne decided upon by the judges. 2. The Freshmen shall furnish a barrel of cider of not less than 40 gallons. The same shall be chained or fastened securely in a vertical positi , n, (on a platform if necessary) so that the top of the barrel will be not less than 4% feet, and not more than 5 feet above the ground. 3. The scrap shall be twenty minutes in length It shall be started at a given signal from one of the judges. 4. Each class shall, at the start, be ar ranged about one half of the circumference of the forty fcot (radius) circle of which the barrel is the center. 5. The scrap shall close by a given signal from the fudges All men having hands on top of the barrel shall not move, but all others must promptly withdraw. The number of men having hands on the barrel • shall be counted by the judges at the close of the scrap. All hands moved after the signal is given shall be ruled out. The class having the highest total number of men with hands on the barrel shall be declared the winner, to have and to hold the barrel and contents. 6. The three judges shall be the two up per class presidents and a third man chosen by them who shall be a local alumnus or member of the instructing force of the college. The judges shall have .power to arrange all details not covered by these rules, and their decision shall be final. 7. All non-combatants except the judges shall be kept back a definite distance from the scrap, the distance to be fixed by the judges in accordance with the size of the classes. S. All athletes in training shall be de barred from the scrap. 9. All combatants wearing shoes with cleats shall be debarred by the judges. It was also decided that sub freshmen shall be subject to the same restrictions on' the can pus as freshmen, and that a distinctive class cap shall be worn. the question was also discussed as to what portion of Beaver Field should be occupied by the fresh men and sub-freshmen at football games. It was decided that here after they shall occupy the side of the field opposite the grandstand. Y. M. C. A. Notes. The Mission Study classes are be ing foimect. and the first meetings will be held on Nov. 3rd. Those wishing to enroll should leave their names at Room 273 Main at once. The classes will be as follows: (1) The Healing of the Nations— a course on Medical Missions, led by Dunn, 'O3. (2) China—led by Gross, 'O9, and Tomlinson, 'lO. (3) Protestant Missions in South America—led by Bennetch, 'O9. (4) The Lives of Famous Mis sionaries—led by Watson, 'OB and Acheson, 'O9. (5) The Call of the Homeland— with special reference to our immi gration problem, led by Kunkle, 'O7 and Wentzel, 'OB. (6) The Foreign Work of the Y. M. C. A. especially that among students—led by Secretary Wilber. The Capitol City Club. The Harrisburg Club is already at work with prospects of a successful year. The club has 57 members this year as compared with 53 for last year. A new constitution has been adopted, correspondents tor several papers have been appointed, and it was decided to hold smokers at various times during the year, the first of which will be held in the near future. Men who live within a radius of nine miles from Mai ket Square, and from the towns of New Port, Duncannon, Millersburg, and Halifax are urged to join. Don't forget the entertainment given in the Auditorium on Satur day evening by the Italian Boys' Orchestra. The company comes highly recommended. Tickets are on sale at Meek's.
