A word should be said about the proposed lectures. The Committee, which consists of Dr. J. P. Welsh, Mr. D. F. Kapp, Prof. E. D. Walker, Mr. J. S. Ritchey (of the senior class), and Prof. A. H. Espenshade, has already organized and is in correspondence with a number of able and acceptable speakers. The Committee is en- deavoring to secure eminent men, whose addresses will prove to be an inspiration to the community and will broaden the i itellectual and ed ucational life of the College. The student body and the general public will, it is believed, receive sub stantial benefit by having an op portunity to listen to able and in spiring discussions of some of the great social, political, and industrial questions, and of scientific, histor ical, and literary subjects. Tnus the average man's range of interests can be widened and his convictions and purposes receive definite shape. No tickets of admission will be issued, but the lectures will be flee to all. Inasmuch as this course of lectures has been provided mainly for the benefit of the students, for the purpose of giving them certain educational advantages not usually obtained in the class-room, it is hoped that every student of the Pennsylvania State (.ollege will show his appreciation by attending all the lectures offered. Every stu dent, every member of the Fdculty, anti every citizen of State College should give this lecture course his Lamest and enthusiastic support. Every seat in our beautiful Audi torium.should be taken. No adult member of the community can aE fora to be absent. W. T. DUNN The drinking fountain which has stood for several days in the middle of the street at the Athletic Store corner has aroused considerable spe.-.ulation as to what is to be done with it. The fountain is a gift from the local women's club, arid cer tainly will be appreciated by thirsty horses and dogs. The plan was at first considered of placing it in the middle of the intersection of College avenue and Allen street, where it now stands. The council has de cided, however, that this corner is too small and that the proper place for the fountain is on College Avenue at the intersection of Pugh Street, , r nearly in front of the Supply Com pany store.
