FACUETY RECEPTION TO STUDENTS. On Friday evening, Oct. 4th, the Faculty tendered a re ception to the student-rbody. The function proved to be one of the largest events of the kind held at the College for several years. The whole student-body turned out with one accord and, together with their friends, were received in the College Armory, by the members of the Faculty and their wives. In all, about five hundred persons attended. The earlier part of the evening was spent in a general social chat, everybody endeavoring to become acquainted with the new men and in trying to make them feel quite at home. Later, a glee by the Chapel choir and a baritone solo by Saunders, ’O5, were both heartily encored by all. Then followed refreshments, at which no objections were hear v d on the part of the students. Succeeding this the Cadet Band struck up and the evening was wound up by a dance. The event was a decided success in every respect and the Free Lance in behalf of the students, wishes to hearti ly thank the Faculty for a most enjoyable time and to assure them that it was fully appreciated by all. It is such pleasant breaks as this in a man’s college life that enlarge the warm spot he has in his heart for his Alma Mater, bringing lnm into closer and more intimate touch with his professors, and making him feel more like a member of a big, good-hearted, and earnest family than the mere product of an intellectual machine.
