CHANGES IN THE INSTRUCTION FORCE. Nathaniel W. Shed, Assistant Professor of Mining Engineer ing and Metallurgy. Mr. Shed was graduated from the Mass. Inst, of Tech, in ’Br, and was employed there for one year as an instructor. From ’B2 to ’BB he was with the Nashua Iron and Steel Co. as chemist and superintendent of the steel department. Subsequently he has been engaged in practical metallurgical work of various kinds. The position he now holds was made vacant by Prof. H. H. Stoek’s resignation. Abraham H. Espenshade, Instructor in English. Mr. Espen shade received the degree of B. A. at Wesleyan University in ’94. From ’94 to ’95 he was professor of English in Mercersburg Col lege, and the following year he was instructor of English and : History in the Chauncey-Hall School of Boston. He resigned this position to accept a Fellowship in English at Columbia University where he took graduate work until ’97, receiving the degree of M. A. Since that time he has been instructor in English and German in the Barnard School of New York. Prof. Munroe’s resignation caused the vacancy now filled by Mr. Espenshade. Frank F. Thompson, Instructor in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Thompson received the degree of A. B. in ’94, of A. M. in ’95, and of E. E. in ’97, all of them being conferred at Princeton. In ’94-’95 he held a Fellowship in Experimental Science at Prince ton, and in ’97-’9B he was instructor in Physics and. Electrical Engineering in Union College. He now occupies the position made vacant by the resignation of Mr. Frankinfieldi Charles F. Sponsler, Instructor in Practical Mechanics. Mr. Sponsler received the degree of B. S. in ’9B, at the Penn’a State College, Mechanical Department.. He is employed in Mr. Green wood’s place. Frank T. Beers, Assistant in the’Chemical laboratories. Mr. Beers graduated from the Penn’a State College, Chemical Depart ment, in ’9B with the degree of B. S. and holds the position for merly held by W. P. Smiley,' ’95. John F. Shields, B. S. ’92, P. S. C.,"is temporarily with the Mathematical Department. He is professor of Mathematics at Adelphi College and Academy, Brooklyn, N. Y., and has a leave of absence for ’9B. Miss Elizabeth B. Meek, B. S. ’B9, M. S. ’9B, P. S. C. is an ad ditional instructor in Biology.
