Resolved, That we express our regrets at losing his counsel and instruc tion during the remainder of our college course, and that we express to him our best wishes for his welfare, Signatures of the class On Thursday morning, April 9th, the clay after college opened, it was noised about that the Freshmen had raised their flag pole during the night. They were found to be occupying a place on the campus above the residence of Prof. Gill. After chapel exercises the Sophs. arrived and endeavored to get possession of the flag, but after three hours' hard fighting they withdrew from the field, leaving the Freshmen to haul down their colors. Altogether it was a remarkably good-natured scrap and the hat less and shirtless, mud-begrimed contestants presented an amusing appearance to the spectators.
