mere braggadocio, which, if carried too far by this false patriotism,
might lead to national disgrace and disaster.
In the end it is not a question of doctrine; it is a question of
true patriotism.
The college man's position must always be one opposing that
false patriotism which, for the sake of braggadocio, willingly
violates the laws of God and humanity and only finds expressions
for patriotism in the clash of arms. The educated man and the
true patriot will always hold it the glory of a nation to obey as
nearly as possible the laws of Christ and deem it a violation of a
nation's honor to threaten or wage war without a full assurance
of the right.
The '97 La Vie hoard reports that the book is progressing
nicely.
B. F. Fisher, '96, has been elected captain of the athletic team.
Everyone is glad to see Dr. Gregory back with us again this
term.
Candidates for the baseball team have begun practice in the
armory
Dancing class is held in University Inn every Tuesday evening
by Miss Brew.
The midwinter sports will be held in the armory on Friday
