OWING to the failure of Messrs Zink,
Crawford and Birdsall to return to
college this session, the staff of the
Free Lance has been compelled to ac
cept at once the resignations of three of
its members.
Mr. Zink, during the short time in
which he was Editor, filled the position
with credit to the paper and to himself;

and we regret very much that circum
stances did not allow him to continue
his efforts with us. Mr. A. G. McKee
has been appointed by the Senior class
as one of the associate editors.
We also receive the resignations of
Messrs Crawford and Birdsall with re
luctance. Although they were associat
ed with the Lance but a short time, yet
we appreciate the efforts which they put
forth to make it a success. Mr. N. M.
Loyd, a former member of the staff, has
been appointed by the Junior class to
fill the vacancy caused by Mr Crawford,
and Mr. R. W. Williamson has been
elected by the Sophomore class to fill
the place left by Mr. Birdsall.

AS our subscribers have undoubted
ly observed, perhaps to their as
tonishment, the present issue of the
Free Lance is the first one since May
last; the June number having been
omitted.
After the May number had left the
press, and of course too late to make
any announcement, it was decided by
the staff to drop the June number and
to issue a commencement number in the
early part of July. Owing to a misun
derstanding on the part of some of the
members of the staff, the matter was
overlooked so long that the allurements
