LEARNING
CENTER
BEGUN
Ground is now being broken for the
new Learning Center to be situated on
the south east corner of the campus •
grounds. Lounge and recreation areas,
dining and locker rooms for commuters,
a 250 person capacity lecture room,
music practice rooms, S.G.A. office,
newspaper office, two cafeterias which
can be converted into a large dining
hall, and a temporary library, will all
be incorporated into the structure.
This will be a union building com
parable in function to the H.U.B. at
Behrend Campus
Penn State. It's total length will be
240 feet, as compared to 100 feet for
the present structure of Erie Hall.
"The Union Building should be the
heart of the campus," says Dean Lane.
There will be a Union Manager hired to
supervise on a full-time basis.
Since the library will no longer
occupy the top floor of Turnbull Hall,
some classes will be held there. The
permanent library will later be built'
at the west end of the campus.
