BULL FROM TURNBULL by Carol DeArment I was startled to learn that the average Behr end student studies nine hours a day. Dye never seen this average Behrend student, but I'm sure he's around somewhere.. It was interesting to listen, with my Sophomoric sophistication,, to the talk of certain Frosh. "Man, I'll be studying fro= one o'clock to five every day, and well, after supper, I'll just study till bedtime." This is entirely too much. Something had to be done. Eureka, we started STUDIERS ANONYMOUS. Now, the basic philosphy of Studiers Anonymous is simple.. When you've crammed your eyeballs out of their sockets and you've just got to kick the habit,, you jump on the telephone and talk about it. Fifteen of us signed our shone numbers up and rushed home to study and await calls. There was a slip-up from the very first class day, however and I didn't quite manage to get in my nine hours of studing. Between classes at school I had run erronds for the Nittany Cub, and spent some time bulling in the cafeteria. After dinner I spent several hours on my Avon route. So when I got home, it was about 9:00 PM and I had not studied. But I didn't worry. I had plenty of time to study. HA-ha. The phone rang and it took twenty minutes to get her to hang up. Th next call took a half hour, the th took an hour: What fun: I loved it. The • ganization has been a big success, and it is still operating. The purpose has changed, thou Now, when we've been talking on th phone for four or five hours and really need a break, we take ten o fifteen minutes out of our busy se dules to study.
