SGA REPORT Greetings and salutations! This week I'll discuss some of the many functions of the Student Government Association. To start, we are the major registering body of Penn State-Behrend for all clubs. We allocate money to clubs, through budgets they submit, for activities and events that are held on campus. SGA also co-sponsors many events throughout the year. One example is this weekend's All-U-Day at University Park. When a new groups forms, they must submit their constitution to SGA for approval. When policies need to be changed or updated, they are brought to us for revision. Many organizations are represtented on SGA including: Commuter Council, Interfraternity Council, Panhellinic Council, Joint Resident Council, Multi-Cultural Council, and the Student Programming Council. Those clubs and organizations that do not have direct representation are represented through the Student Organizations Council. The SGA office is located downstairs in the Reed Building and if questions arise they can be brought to the office. We have one seat open for a Commuter Senator. If you are interested in becoming a senator contact Hal Coffey at x 6721 or the SGA office at x 6489. Freshmen elections will be held next week on Tuesday September 28 and Wednsday September 29 in the Mail Room area and in the Science Building, respectively. All freshmen should vote for the election because the candidates will be your voice on SGA. Last, SGA is holding a leadership retreat at Camp Judson on October 15,16, and 17. The retreat is open to all students. Those interested should contact your club president or Sam Epps at SGA. Correction In the article "New Greek Guidelines Cause Stir," Mike Libidinsky was misquoted in the second paragraph. It should read: "to improve students' scholarship and provide them with more academic programming." The first change in the guidelines in column two should read: "...the exclusion of provisional and/or non-degree students from rushing, pledging, and/or associating..." The second paragraph in column two should be changed to: "...semester so they can establish a solid grade base before pledging/associating (grade requirements are by individual chapter policy). Executive members of IFC and Panhellenic must have a 2.5 cumulative average to hold office...", not a 2.5 GPA requirement for all members.
