Two players shoot for the stars

Lions
Hilbert and Mark Malone of
Methodist both ended up on the
All-Tourney team.
The capacity crowd was
making some noise as they
awaited the big game. Both
teams entered the gym and were
set to shoot each other down.
In their biggest first half
output of the season, the Lions
put up 49 points to Defiance's
28.
Would the second half be a
different story? Could the Lions
keep the high-powered offense
of the Yellow Jackets down?
The answer was a resounding,
yes as Behrend shot 66% to pull
out the 81-63 victory and repeat
as champions.

The big three, no, not
Churchill, Stalin and FDR, but
Plyler, Respress and Thorne
paced the Lions once again.
Respress poured in 22 and
Thorne added 12 as both were
named to the All-Tourney
team.
Plyler captured MVP honors
as he hit six three pointers and
had 28 points to help lead the
Lions on to victory. Their
record improved to 3-3.
The Lions next game is on
December 19 when they face
Cedarville College, and their
first game after break is against
Daeman , College on January
11.

On Thursday, November 19,
Rick Nese and Shon Fleming,
two of Behrend's men's soccer
players, participated in the
Western Pennsylvania
Intercollegiate Soccer
Conference All-Star Game held
at Si,. Vincent's College, in
Latrobe, PA.
Nese and Fleming, both
senior captains, were picked as
All-Stars by other coaches in
the conference. The top 38
players make it to the all-star
game.
They played on the North
team, which comprised of
players from Penn State-
Behrend, Pitt-Bradford, Pitt-
Johnstown, Allegheny College,
Slippery Rock and Grove City.
Nese played stopper, and
Fleming played a variety of
positions. Although they lost 2-
1, the two enjoyed the game. "It
was interesting to play along
side some of the players that I
rivaled against over the season,"
said Rick Nese.
Fleming agreed. He said, "It
was a good opportunity to sec
friends from other schools, and
he able to play on the same
team instead of against them."
It was the second year they
had both been picked for the
All-Star game, and they
considered it a great honor.
