Young go getter
takes over JRC
by Gary Johnson
The Collegian
Joint Residence Council has a
youngin' at its helm this year.
First semester student Hugh
Rosenblum has taken charge of
JRC.
When asked what JRC really
does, he replied, "We deal with
residents' problems. If we can't

"We co-sponsored the Battle of
the Bands, we will organize a
book sale, movie nights like the
Rocky Horror picture show
during orientation, Jello
Wrestling, and a T-shirt contest.
We also organized a committee to
come up with new ideas. One
idea is a coffee shop in the
Student Theater. There we would
have espresso, cappucino, and
maybe a guitarist or someone
reciting poetry."
"We also plan to have a
speaker on November 23 at 7:35
p.m. She will talk about the
environment and recycling and
what we can do."
The JRC's office hours
are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Floor representatives make up
JRC and the president is elected
at the end of one year to reign for
the following year from those on
the Council. Rosenblum will
serve for the remainder of this
year.
Rosenblum also remarked that
there was a problem with the
election this year, which is why
he became president only last
week. He gave no further
comment.

Free food? Another Behrend
tradition? Yes!
Next Thursday, November 19,
is Behrend's 6th Annual
Thanksgiving Dinner for 6
Strangers. The dinner will be
held in the Wintergreen Cafe at
6 p.m.
"Dinner for Six Strangers is a
unique opportunity for students
to interact with faculty outside
the classroom," said David
Shields, director of Student
Activities.
The dinner is set up so one
faculty member will share a
table with six randomly
assigned students. Preferably
the students will be "strangers"
and this will give them the
opportunity to become
acquainted.
The meal will be a traditional
Thanksgiving dinner with a
menu of tifrkey, mashed
potatoes, stuffing, corn,
cranberry sauce, tossed salad and
pumpkin pie.
"The dinner has become more
successful every year," said Pat
