The Collegian
Adventure, romance, suspense,
and incredible music-this movie
has it all! The Last of the
Mohicans snowballed all of these
film qualities together in a movie
that would make the most
unemotional viewer spring a
leak.
This historical story takes
place in 1757, when the English
are battling the French to keep a
hold of their colonies.
On the side of the French is the
Huron Indians, a war party of the
tribe led by the savage, and I
would also say psychotic,
Magua. This is one crazy Indian!
He is a blood thirsty (and I mean
that literally) avenger of his
family against" The Grey Hair."
"The Grey Hair" is the British
officer. General Monroe. He and
his troops are stationed at Fort
McHenry and are in dire need of
some reinforcements or the fort
will fall to the hands of the
French.
He has two beautiful daughters
named Cora and Alice. Alice is
the timid and cute little "daddy's
girl" and Cora is the fiery
brunette that falls in love with
Nathaniel.
Where should I begin to
describe Nathaniel? Well, he's the
adopted son of the Mohican tribe
and is absolutely handsome!

Last of the Mohicans
I've ever seen; he really grabs
your attention! He has these
piercing eyes that I swear could
melt icebergs. It's no wonder that
Cora falls head over heels for
him!
Nathaniel's feelings for Cora
are little more discreet. Like the
typical male he delivers some
sassy lines to her to let her know
he’s in charge, like "Miss
Monroe, they aren't strangers and
they stay as they lay."
Duncan, one of the British
officers, is hopelessly in love
with Cora. He keeps on pursuing
her affection and tries to keep
Cora and Nathaniel apart as best
he can. But the fireworks between
them are too hot to extinguish.
Finally, after what seems an
eternity, they get together. But
what happens in any movie right
after two characters find each
other; they lose each other.
Nathaniel is sentenced to be
hung because he helped some
soldiers escape from the fort.
Cora goes to see him in his jail
cell and tells him that,"The
whole world's on fire." I'm not
quite sure if she meant the fort or
herself, but at any rate it was a
good line.
Nathaniel escapes being hung
after the Hurons raid the British
troops and Nathaniel, Cora,
Alice, and Duncan begin a
journey by canoe through some
of the most breathtaking scenery
ever.

film, by Trevor Jones, is reason
enough to see this movie. It was
fantastic, it sent chills up and
down my spine! Two thumbs up
for Trevor Jones.
Cora and Nathaniel once again
get separated when he leaves her
at a waterfall. Don't worry, it's
not that he doesn't love her
anymore. He leaves because the
Hurons are closing in on them.
They hate the Mohicans, so
Nathaniel fears they will kill
Cora if they find her with him.
He delivers the best line of the
movie when he tells Cora,"Don’t
worry, I will find you. Stay
alive. No matter where you are or
how far I must travel, 1 will find
you!" How could you not believe
someone after saying something
like that?
1 would tell you about the rest
of the movie but the ending is
the best part. It really throws you
a string of exciting events that
you are just going to have to see
for yourself.
The Last of the Mohicans is
definitely a movie you don't want
to miss. My advice is to see it
while it is at the theater, because
television will surely take away
from the scenery and battle scenes
depicted on the big screen. As for
the girls, you know what your
reason is for seeing this picture!
