This year that might change. The 1992 Women's Tennis team's record right now stands at 7-6, with only two matches remaining. The team will make history at Behrend if they continue to win. One of their two remaining matches is against Buffalo State, this will be their second match against them. In their first battle against Buffalo State, the Lions won. Most likely they will beat win again. The Lions other match is against St. John Fisher. Coach Dan Gallegos is very optimistic about reaching the team's goals. He has watched his team blossom this season. Now he expects only the best Seven out of the eight starters are freshman. So, the future looks even brighter for the team. This past Saturday at the Super Sport Tournament, the Lady Lions placed second. They defeated Waynesburg in the semi-finals by a score of (4- 1), but unfortunately they lost to Allegheny in the finals. Sports Bits He's Back: Earvin "Magic" Johnson announced Tuesday night in a news conference that he is returning to the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers. Johnson, 33, retired during the beginning of last season when he learned that he had contracted the HIV virus. Instead of giving up, Johnson continued to workout and he also spoke at schools, made videos and wrote books about the HIV virus. He played in the NBA all star game in February and took home the MVP award after scoring 25 points, dishing out nine assists and pulling down five rebounds. Magic was also the co-captain of the "Dream Team" which won the gold medal in Barcelona. Repeat: The Atlanta Braves shutout the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night 6-0 to clinch the National League West Championship. The Braves will face the Pittsburgh Pirates in a repeat of last years National League Championship Series. Rating's War: Executives at ABC must be smiling! Monday night, the Philadelphia Eagles will face the Dallas Cowboys in a battle of unbeaten NFC teams. Both teams took advantage of a bye last weekend and should be fresh for what might be the game of the year. My prediction Philadelphia 27- Dallas 13. Welcome to Houston: Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver, Webster Slaughter, signed a $2.3 million contract Tuesday with the Houston Oilers. Slaughter is the third unrestricted free agent to sign with another team this week. On Monday, Keith Jackson left the Philadelphia Eagles for the Miami Dolphins and Garin Veris left the New England Patriots for the San Francisco 49ers. Does anyone care?: Jimmy Connors defeated Martina Navritalova in "The Battle of Champions" (7-5, 6-4) last friday night. Both players said it was a hard but fun match and they hope that more gender battles will follow. Welcome Back Magic! I missed you! Page 15
