Drop-ins require 24 hours
notice and will be charged a
significantly higher hourly rate.
The flexible part-time
schedule is designed to meet the
specific needs of students.
"We will allow students to
arrange their child care schedule
around their classes for an entire
semester," Reber says.
Therefore, if a student
registers in advance for classes,
the child's day care can also be
scheduled in advance with no
restrictions on the minimum
number of hours required daily.
Reber said, "we ask them
(students) to commit to that
schedule all semester, but the
schedule will be tailored to meet
their needs.”
The search for staff
members and a director for the
center will begin in January.
Applicants will be
interviewed by members of the
University Child Care Task
Force according to state
licensing standards.
The task force, consisting
of Behrend students, faculty and
staff, was created in 1989.
"Currently they (the task
force) are writing a brochure for
the center, developing

applications, setting a rate
schedule, making
recommendations for
renovations of the building, and
developing position descriptions
for the staff," said Reber.
Application forms will be
made available in January, at
Behrend Childcare: The university is making preparations to convert
the Tupperware building, on Station Road, into a daycare center, due to
