Thursday, April 9, 1992 Budget recommendations made (continued from page 1) people understood what they could ask for," added Finn. Clubs are encouraged to submit a revised budget request if they did not receive all of the funds they requested. "Very few groups get everything they ask for simply because there isn't enough to go around," she said. SGA will not vote to pass the 1991-92 budget until April 15. "This gives the clubs a week, if they feel that something was misinterpreted, to write up an appeal." Tonight SOC will hold it's monthly meeting at 6:30 p. m. in Reed 117 and during this meeting the budget committee will be available to answer questions about the allocation of funds. Co-sponsorship is one option clubs can consider when requesting funds for certain events. This type of sponsorship elicits a favorable response from the budget committee. Co sponsorship allows different organizations to work with each other and other college offices in order to improve the quality of programs on campus. Some of the criteria which the budget committee considers when determining who gets how much includes the number of students served by the organization, number of members, diversity and enrichment of the program and originality of the club. Among the restrictions on the use of funds are the funding of partisan political activity/support of candidates, appropriating for personal gain and purchase of alcoholic beverages. Each club has been provided with a copy of the Initial Budget Requests and the rationale for the funds appropriated to each club. Crulso Lines Now Hiring. LOCAL ERIE -- Erie School District officials will have a fight on their hands during the next two months as they debate the closing of Academy High School and the School for the Performing and Visual Arts. The school district plans to close Academy and eliminate SPAVA in order to balance the 1992-93 budget. Parents and teachers from Academy and SPAVA vow to fight the cuts, claiming more harm would be done by closing the school than moving it to Technical Memorial. Page 3
