Adopt-A-Lion Program: Support the
Lion Ambassadors' campaign to adopt a lion at
the Erie Zoo by making donations at the RUB
Desk, Bookstore, and Wintergreen Cafe. Show
your support for our own lions by getting

Universities seek to control
alcohol on campuses

solve the alcohol problem," said
Dr. Peter Likins, Task Force
chairman and president of Lehigh
University.
Likins, whose task force
developed the recommendations,
said endorsements from alcoholic
beverage and tobacco companies
promotes use and leads students
to believe that alcohol and
tobacco go hand-in-hand with
those events.

With the addition of the new
parking lots last summer,
Behrend's traditional parking
crunch has been significantly
eased. However, the Traffic
Appeals Board, a division of the
Student Government Association,
. has observed several reoccurring
- trouble 1 areas where parking
regulations are often
misunderstood or simply abused.
The following will hopefully
clarify these trouble areas in
parking regulations. The Traffic
Appeals Board requests that
students, faculty and staff review
the Official Parking Handbook,
available in the Police & Safety
building and also scattered
throughout the Reed Building, for
the actual regulations.

The following are reminders
and clarifications of those parking
policies:
• If your vehicle breaks down
and is, or will be, illegally
parked, notify Police & Safety
immediately. Also, place a note
prominently on the dashboard
including the' nature of your
problem, your name, and phone
number.
If this procedure is followed,
according to the Traffic Appeals
Board, officers are likely to be
more understanding of your
predicament. Obviously, officers
can't tell whether a car runs or
not by looking at it, so it is your
responsibility to notify P&S.
• If you are injured, and have
temporary difficulty in walking,

recommended that colleges and
universities:
•Establish an interdisciplinary
group responsible for developing
and implimenting a
comprehensive alcohol and other
drug program.
• Provide and require that all
students and employees have
inexpensive health insurance that
will cover standard alcohol and
drug treatment.
• Increase the state tax on
beer, something the task force
says is "inexpensive and
accesible" in Pennsylvania.

a temporary handicapped parking
permit. Again, it is your
responsibility, not Police &
Safety's, to make sure they
understand your special needs.
• The only place students can
park in the Reed Lot, Monday-
Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., is in
the five-minute parking spots.
Students can only park for five
minutes, and flashers must be
used. Student cars in spaces
adjacent to the five minute spots,
no matter how full the five
minute spaces may be, will be
ticketed. No further exceptions.
