The Lions never quit and rode
the coat tails of a steaming Plylcr
25 points (5 x 10 on treys) to
shock Keuka and send them on
their four hour bus ride in a state
of confusion.
Things did not look pretty lor
the Paulsen-led club. In fact,
Plyler's dialing of long-distance
was all that kept the Lion heart
even beating for much of the
second half. Respress put in his
fourth straight consistent game
with 13 points to help the cause
of Plyler, but no other player hit
for more than eight.

Lady Lions Trounce
Notre Dame
Saturday Dec. 7th, the
women's basketball team buried
the Falcons of Notre Dame (OH)
70-47 at Eric Hall. Notre Dame
came off a 104-90 loss to a tough
NAIA team from Walsh College.
The Lions' defense kept them
in check as they jumped out to a
38-30 lead at the break. After the«
intermission, the team responded
by stifling the N.D. offense and
giving up only 17 second half
points.
Sophomore Becky Swartz
came off the bench to give the
squad offensive support. She hit
on 7 of 14 for 15 points. Wendy
Boyd tossed in 14. Heather
Shearer grabbed a team high eight
boards. Missy Thompson and
Anne Bonner each pulled down
seven rebounds.
Lions Claw Lady Cats
After finishing strong in the
academic setting the Lady Lions
travelled to Greenville, PA, and
put on another superb
performance at Thiel College.
The women routed the Lady
Tomcats by the score of 77-45.
Behrend jumped out to a 12-4
lead. Thiel gradually cut into the
lead with some long range
shooting. The Lions needed a lift
and got one as Michelle Grover
stepped forward and started the
squad rolling.
Grover hit on 4 of 5 jumpers
against the zone as the Lions
increased the gap. At the half
Behrend was in control with a 43-
28 lead. Boyd and Grover led with
nine points apiece. The Lions
were almost perfect from the
charity stripe hitting on 15 of 17
for 88.2 percent.
As usual the Lion defense was
up to par, forcing 19 turnovers in
the first half alone. Coming into
the game the team was focused

Lions 63 - Grove City
The Lions grabbed their third
straight victory over an out
manned Wolverine squad. For the
first time in Coach John Barr's
distinguished career (20th
season), the Wolverines entered
Erie Hall on a 0-fer, 0-11.
The young Barr-squad hung
tough for much of the contest but
the experience and the depth of
the Lions spelled doom for GCC.
Clark, showing that good
shooters get themselves out of
slumps, hit for 16 points. Steady
Thorne hit for 11, Plylcr for 10.

performance and forced her into
seven turnovers.
The second half was all Lions.
They held Thiel to 17 second half
points as the Tomcats fell to 3-4.
A balanced attack helped Behrend
prevail. Heather Shearer had 12,
Boyd and Grover 11 each.
The defense is the main
reason. The team is only giving
up 55.7 points per game; holding
opponents to a 38 percent field
goal percentage, and forcing 3
turnovers for every assist their
opponents get.

Fredonia 74 - Lions 70
in Overtime
The Lions had notched an
impressive win over an
undefeated Fredonia squad earlier
in the season in Eric Hall. This
lime the gang had to go across I
-90 to the Blue Devils house, and
came away disappointed.
The Lions had balanced
scoring but not enough of it, as
five players had numbers in
double figures. Thorne (16),
Rcsprcss (13), Clark (11), Plylcr
(10), and back up guard John
Hawthorne (10), made up much
of the scoring. The Lions shot
fairly well, hitting on 47 percent
from the floor, but Plylcr and
Clark were a collective 3x13
from beyond the 19'9" stripe.
At the end of the first half the
squad only led 31-23, but they
came out running in the second
half. A 12-0 spurt buried Pitt-
Bradford. The Lions at one point
held a 28 point advantage. All
fourteen players entered the
scoring column for Behrend.
Bonner paced Behrend with 5
of 6 shooting for 16 points while
also grabbing 11 boards. Boyd
netted 16, Swartz supported with
10 points on 4 of 6 shooting and
Shearer snagged 8 rebounds.
