Netters finish with
tremendous effort

The men's tennis team
ended their season with an up
and-down wecicend pair of
matches, first scoring a
decisive win over St. John
Fisher, then losing 8-1 to
Carnegie Mellon University.
Behrend came from behind
to defeat St. John Fisher 5-4
on Saturday After being down
2-4 in singles play, Behrend
swept all three of their doubles
matches to win the contest.
Singles winners were
Chuck Keenan and Keith Stark.
Keenan won 6-7, 6-1, 6-3
while Stark played to a 6-1, 6-
4 victory.
In doubles action,
Keenan/Stark won 6-2;
Good/Edwards won 7-5, 6-1;
and Smith/Spangler won 7-5,
6-1.

In Michael's recurring nightmare there are two outs
in the ninth and he is standing naked at the plate
before a capacity crowd at Yankee Stadium hold
ing a Whiffle bat and Nolan Ryan is on the mound.
Coach Gallegos said, "Our
doubles team played well," said
tennis coach Dan Gallegos.
"They were at their best."
The Behrend netters didn't
fare as well the next day when
they went up against Carnegie
Mellon's squad. The only point
Behrend won in the match
came from Bill Stolar. Stolar
defeated CMU's Dave Alley 6-
3, 6-4 in the number five
singles spot.
On April 23rd, Behrend
lost to Buffalo State 5-4.
In singles play, Behrend
won two of six matches. Steve
Smith won 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 and
Bill Stolar won 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
In doubles, Keenan/Stark
won 7-6, 0-6, 6-1 and
Smith/Spangler won 6-3, 6-3.
Behrend finished the year
at 3-10. Gallegos said the
players gave a tremendous
effort and worked hard all year.
