Communication
In the fall of 1991, I will be
entering my final year as an
undergraduate at Behrend. I look
back at my last three years with
a firm sense of accomplishment.
The many opportunities to be
involved on campus have
allowed me to apply my learning
skills outside the classroom,
bringing with it my philosophy
of commitment and
responsibility to community. I
have served as an orientation
leader, treasurer and' president of
the Women Today Organization,
member of the Human Relations
Programming Council, licensed
board operator for WPSE and on
various other committees. I
bring my leadership experience
and continued concern to the
nurturing process of organization
with me as Vice President of
SGA. I invite everyone to join in
the process of participation by
making the time to vote on
SGA Presidential candidates
I have been a member of SGA
for over three years. First elected
to the position of commuter
senator, then to two consecutive
years as Student Organization
Council president. During that
time I have also served as a
member of the hearing board, the
budget committee, the traffic
committee and representative for
Behrend College to the
Commonwealth Campus Student
Government.
I feel that the positions that I
have held have given me the
experience that I would need to
effectively lead SGA.
If I am elected to the
presidency, I would like to see
the image of the Student
Government Association on
campus improved. I believe this
can be accomplished by
implementing programs to create
a more active Student Senate as
well as by having a stronger
voice for the student body
through SGA representatives.

If elected Vice President of
SGA, I can utilize my past
experience as resident senator to
assist the president in
implementing various projects
and ideas. I feel the work that I
have accomplished as a senator
can be enhanced if I am elected
vice president.
I feel that prior SGA
experience is essential for any
candidate running for president
or vice president. SGA can run
smoothly and effectively from
the beginning if its leaders know
how SGA operates (SGA should
not be a hands-on learning
organization).
Two accomplishments I have
made as resident senator were to
provide more structure in the
meetings and to assist in
providing better lighting in the
library.
Currently, I serve as President
of the Student Programming
Council. I am well acquainted
with the mission of- SGA and
very familiar with how it
accomplishes its objectives.
Also, I know how to work
efficiently within the guidelines
that have been established by
the University and Student
Government.
This past semester I initiated
the Open Forum. The Open
Forum is still being developed,
but has already experienced
success. The purpose of the Open
Forum is to make it easier for
students to bring questions and
concerns to SGA.
I strongly believe that SGA
needs to actively pursue all
student concerns and should take
the initiative in providing the
means for students to have their
concerns heard. SGA should be
proactive.
