Student Services issues survey Project to define programming needs The Office of Student Services is currently engaged in a campus-wide assessment project designed to obtain student perceptions of the programs and services offered through the various components of Student Services and to learn more about student interests and needs. Student Services is interested in gathering this information in order to improve current services and to design new programs that Behrend students will value. The survey has been sent to approximately 470 Behrend students who have been randomly selected to participate. Student Services officials believe that while many students take advantage of the services offered, there is an undefined number of students who either do not know of the McCarthy promoted (continued from page 1) With the closing of Behrend's ROTC program, the Army has given the major a new duty. station. Since not all students use services and facilities in the same manner, the survey will be helpful in identifying which groups of students need or use certain services, thereby helping the staff to "target" wife Lynn and three children, Jimmy, Mike and Laurie. With this change of assignment, McCarthy will get back into engineering, the branch of the Army into which he was commissioned. A committee was formed consisting of eight Student Services staff members and Ron Krahe, an Engineering instructor and member of the Faculty council Committee on Student Life. The survey was first administered to a pilot group of approximately 55 students including a research methods class led by Dr. Carl Kaligren, assistant professor of psychology, members of the Joint Residence Council, and the Residence Life Staff. to Major Rolla.
