Lions split
doubleheader
As we went to press, the Men's baseball team was wrapping
up their postponed twinbill against Mount Union. The Lions
split the contest, losing to Union 6-4 in the opener, but battling
back to clinch the nightcap 5-4 in extra innings.

Canadian and National
Football - League looking
at "The Rocket" Ismail
The Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts are
setting their eyes on the stars and looking for a rocket to
take them there...Raghib "Rocket" Ismail, that is.
The Argonauts, owned by Bruce McNall (who gave
Wayne Gretzky a sweet .contract to play for his Los
Angeles Kings), is looking to hitch their chariot to Notre
Dame's standout wide receiver.
"I look for unique opportunities... Not every football
player is Rocket, just as not every hockey player is
Wayne Gretzky," McNall said.
Organization insiders say McNall is prepared to offer
Ismail around $3 million a year for two or three years,
depending on specific contract stipulations.
Ed Abram, Ismail's agent, said he spoke last Thursday
with Argonaut General Manager Mike McCarthy, but had
yet to receive a "formal offer."
"If they put something on the table that is extremely
attractive...logic dictates we take a look at it in a most
serious way," he said.
Abram is still talking with the New England Patriots.
