The cagers trounced Alfred University on Feb. 13 in their last appearance at home this season, notching a 57-44 win against the Lady Saxons. Behrend (8-16) took a 35-25 halftime lead against the Lady Panthers (5-18), shooting at an impressive 52 percent clip from the floor. Nine Behrend players scored in the game, with Anne Bonner (13) and Michelle Beisler (11) leading the offense. Biesler also lead the Lions with nine rebounds. Becky Swartz hit two buckets from 3- point range. At the outset of the game, the Lady Lions held Pitt-Bradford to a paltry 34 percent shooting effort. Michelle Beisler, averaging 7.2 rebounds per game, said the Panthers were a tough team despite Behrend's statistical advantage. They foug to the last second," said the junior forward. The team's luck in the win bracket started by ending their three-game losing streak with a 57-44 victory over Alfred University (4-18). At the half, Behrend was on top 18-15 before blowing open the game in the second half by out-scoring the Saxons 39-29. Beisler said, "We started off a little slow. The second half we really played like we could." Freshman Abby Haring pointed out, "We made our shots and had a lot of key plays. The team played well together. It's been a long time since we've worked that hard together." Eleven players for Behrend scored in the game. Leading Behrend's offense once again were Beisler with 12 points and Bonner with 11. Also, Beisler and Bonner collected nine rebounds apiece. In the first half, the team shot a dismal 18 percent, 7-34. But in the second half the teams field goal percentage jumped to 45 percent.
