Defense has Lions on
track with a 2-1 start

as he scored 15. Viscuso and
transfer Greg Blair each added 12.
Buzalka swiped a team season
high 14 rebounds, including 10
offensive boards.
"We bounced back in this
one," said Paulsen. "We were
behind early, 12-3, and missed
some easy shots. But we came
back and were up by five at the
half. Then, they (Bradford) only
scored 19 in the second half."
So as the defense is in high
gear for Behrend, the offense is
still a mystery.
"It's puzzling," said Paulsen.
"We're now putting a lot of
emphasis on shooting during
practice. The reason that we are
2-1 is that the defense is playing
well."
"Our seniors (Baughman,
Demski, and Viscuso) are doing a
good job," continued Paulsen.
"Their overall effort is good, but

Benford and Brockport's Burnice
Green rounded out the team.
Rickey Taylor, a five-foot-five
guard from Brockport, was the
tournament MVP....The Lions
will seek out ways to fix their
sputtering offense when they
visit Oberlin tonight. Oberlin
was the fourth place finisher at
the Hamot tourney, falling to
York in the consolation game.
Also this week, Behrend will
return home to host Thiel
College Saturday night.... During
his coaching career, Paulsen has
never been part of a team that has
shot less than 50 percent from
the field. Currently, Behrend is
shooting at a 41 percent clip.

Lady Lions take second in tournament
Altsman, Beisler get tourney honors

The 1990-91 women's
basketball team began their
season on November 15
competing in a two day
Fredonia Tournament.
In the first round of the
tournament, Behrend came
from behind to defeat
Fredonia by the score of 57-
51.
The Lady Lions trailed
33-27 at the half, but played
an impressive second half to
earn an opening season win.
Behrend's offense was led
by junior forwards Michele
Beisler and Melanie Dunn,
each pouring in 12 points.
Sophomore guard Lori
Nadolny commented on the
game by saying, "We won

loss to LeMoyne (NCAA
Division II) in the
tournament's championship
game. Behrend trailed 38-24
at the half. In the second half
each team was equal on
offense, both scoring 23
points. Dunn was the high
scorer for Behrend with 10
points.
Nadolny said, "It was a
tough game and we couldn't
get back on defense."

to the tournament team.
Behrend next traveled to
John Carroll University,
where they suffered their
second loss of the season by

a pretty good game, but we
just couldn't ha the boards.
We didn't play up to our
potential."
Nadolny further
comments on the future for
the Lady Lions by saying,
"Our defense is very good
this year. We have a young
team and a lot of freshman
with good potential this year.
We have a lot of talent and I
think we are going to do well
this year."
Behrend's current record
is 1-2. The Lady Lions' first
home game will be this
Saturday against
Waynesburg College.
