Saying "ideas from science have the power to change our lives," he believes that people can benefit from the insights that chaos theories can offer into complex systems in various fields such as population biology, theoretical physics, and economics. In fact, Gleick says, what chaos research tells us about unpredictability and randomness can help in dealing with larger questions of "determinism and free will." In his book and speaking engagements, Gleick discusses developments in "the science of chaos" as far back as the turn of the century, but with an Behrend celebrates its 41st birthday-- by Jodi McWilliams Collegian Staff Writer Behrend will turn, 41 this month and to celebrate the Lion Ambassadors are serving cake and punch in the Winter Garden.
