Behrend's new , Student Auxiliary provides 88 hours of coverage a week and consists of eight students who patrol the campus on foot, and are enpowerexl to issue parking tickets. The program is headed by Randy Hoffman, Behrend's manager of Police and Safety. "They help assist with tedious job ... and are good to have around for company while patrolling on foot." -Todd Allen Police and Safety Officer "They are our eyes and ears," explained Hoffman. Some= of the duties of the student auxiliary include locking and unlocking - buildings, and checking on night assistants, but the SA was formed mainly because of the interest expressed in an escort service. The escort service is just now being instituted, but is available to escort students between on campus locations should they need it. Council Commonwealth Campuses denied its bid for representation Group wants to help select new president by Tony Olivito Collegian Staff Writer The Council of Common wealth Student Government (CCSG), of which Behrend is a member, has been denied a request to be represented on a committee that will help choose Penn State's next president The request was turned down by the Board of Trustees at University Park. "The governing body of the commonwealth deserves a seat on the committee," said Behrend's Student Government Association President Stan Washington. The CCSG claims the rejection increases feelings of alienation among Penn States commonwealth campuses, ac cording to Washington. He cited a headline in The. CCSG is "just trying to make the Penn State system better," said Washington. The council plans to circulate petitions at each campus, which will later be sent to Penn State's Board of Trustees.
