S.G.A. President
I have been involved in
S.G.A. for a full year and during
that time I have played three
major roles in the system. They
are:
1.)--A Commuter Senator
who has taken part of every
Senate meeting
2.)--Treasurer of Commuter
Council, one of the largest
councils on campus
3.)--Office Manager for
..S tud en t..,-Ggivernmen since
August 1988
As President, I would like to
see a more informed, more
involved student population. I
think that there needs to be a
better representation system in
order to hear everyones opinion
on student issues. I also think
there needs to be a greater sense
of school pride and spirit among
us.
I think that my interest and
my motivation combined with
my leadership ability and my
past experience, makes me the

I bring integrity, experience,
enthusiam, and much more to
S.G.A. I have attended Behrend
since my freshman year. In my
years here I have managed to
become involved in the campus
in many ways. I am presently a
S.G.A. resident senator, I have
been an active member of the
Student Programming Council
for 2 years, Business manager for
the Yearbook for one semester,
Orientation leader for a year and a
half, presently Assistant Director
of Orientation, and a sports writer
for the Collegian for one
semester.
The following is a list of
improvements of Student
Government that I feel will help
the students as a whole: Make the
Gov't the student voice of the
campus, set up committees to
better handle issues, update the
constitution, publicize issues and
dates of S.G.A. meeting.

Presidential Candidate
As a student leader, I believe I
have a lot to offer the Student
Government Association. To be
an effective leader, many qualities
are required. Confidence in
oneself, faith in your followers,
able to share ideas with others,
able to take on responsibility
while delegating responsibility,
good communication skills,
organization, and the list can go
on and on. I believe I have these
qualities pa . id . many more to hold

I am presently involved in the
Association of Black Collegians
as Vice-President, S.G.A. as
Resident Senator, the Lion
Ambassadors, the Council on
Civil Rights (just recently
formed), Orientation Committee,
Campus Hearing Board, Faculty
Committee, and a couple Awards
Committees. My involvement on
campus is very extensive.

SGA President
As to what I have to offer the
SGA, I have everything to offer.
I was commuter senator my first
year at Behrend and the vice
president of SGA this year. I
have the experience necessary to
take the position of president. I
have attended numerous
leadership work shops, conducted
a few of my own, and am a
strong, effective leader. I
understand how the
-administration •works; how-the
budgetprocess"-works; arid hdw td
get students involved. I can offer
my time, experience and
dedication to the SGA. I offer
two years worth of insights on
how it all works and how it can
be made to work for the ordinary
student.
As for other student
organizations I have been
involved in: I was an active
member of the Commuter
Council; President of the
Political Awareness Club;
Member of the Student
Programming Council. I am also
the Student Director of
Orientation for Fall, 1989.

Political Science
Although I haven't worked
with Student Government to any
great extent as of yet, I have
been an active member of Sigma
Kappa Nu fraternity, as well as
the Campus Greek System as a
whole for three years. I feel that
I hold a great reserve of untapped
ability to improve and to assist
the campus and all the students.
My ability to listen and
express individual concerns is
one of my better attributes.
There are many aspects of
S.G.A. that could be improved.
Two very important ones to me
are the need for a minority voice
in the S.G.A., and a stronger
interaction between the S.G.A.
and the student body.

President
I can offer the Student
Government Association three
primary things; talent, dedication,
and experience.
My two main goals for S.G.A.
are for better organized social
events with more publicity and
better communication with off
campus students concerning
campus activities.
I am an active member of Inter-
Varsity Christian Fellowship and
I attended the Inauguration of
President Bush with the Political
Awareness Club this past
January. I have gained experience
with student government as I was
a class officer in high school.

SPC Vice President
The Vice Presidency of SPC
is a big responsibility. This
office requires you to work real
hard, and put in long hours. I am
willing to put in these hours, and
all the work that it involves. I
have been a very active member
of the Student Programming
Council over the last year. I
attended the NACA conference in
the fall. From this conference,
SPC was able to book several
comedians and other acts. I am
also the Inter-Club Council
representative.

Resident Senator
I have experience with S.G.A.
and how the S.G.A. runs. So, I
feel that I have a lot to offer and
contribute to the S.G.A.
I believe that S.G.A. needs to
get more involved with students.
To do this, I think that we have
to get involved and stop the
apathy on this campus.
I was a budget committee
member for S.G.A. last year.
This year, I have been Inter Club
Council President and Chairman
of the Budget Committee. Also, I
am a senator on the S.G.A.

JRC President
I feel I can help improve JRC
through my leadership skills and
my determination. I feel I am a
dependable person and I can do a
good job. I hope I can be a
responsible leader and help
improve resident life on campus.
Membership is one area I
hope to improve. I would like to
see more members and more
active members. I would work to
help resident students with
problems. I would, for example,
have a JRC phone number where
students can call and discuss
problems in the resident halls. I
would like to build a strong sense
of community between all on
campus students.

Junior Commuter
Council President
I am a junior here at Penn
State-Behrend and I have been a
commuter since I started at Penn
State-Allentown where I lived at
home. I have served on
Commuter Council since I
transferred here at the beginning
of this school year. I was
involved in the Dance Marathon
that we organized to raise money
for the American Cancer Society
and worked on collation and
layout of our Activities
Calendar/Newsletter.
Having commuted to school
from home and off campus I feel
I will be able to voice the
opinions of the commuter
students I will be representing as
President of Commuter Council
on the S.G.A.
