As you are probabiy aware, the University has adopted a new
smov policy which will become effective April 3, 1989. The poky
is a result of more than two years of study and consultation
throughout the University community and will be implemented at
every /ocation.
The policy eliminates sraoking in all University' ow22eclioecupied
facilities and vehicles. individuai residence hall rooms are the or/I.Y
areas at Penr2 State-i3ehrend which are not affected by the po/icy.
The policy- appiies to al/ students, evyes, a2ld visitors when on

The success of the paiicy depends upon the cooperation of all
members °four comralulity. Znforcement responsibility rests with
"group eaders" open/y assigned areas (classrooms, I.boratories,
and seminar/meeting rooms) and with supervisors of individual
office, administrative and genera/ work areas.
