1. ATM: What surprises you the
most since you left? •
JM: Well, the way people
talk about you. I've never had so
many nice things written about
me. Wait. That's half true.
People only tell the truth about
me when it's bad. When they say
something nice it is usually a lie.
2. AT M : How about an
example?
JM: Sure, if I actually slept
with all the girls who claimed to
have known me I would've never
had enough time for The Doors.
3. ATM: Did you sleep with a
lot of girls?
JM : It wasn't called the
'Summer of Love' for nothing. I
grew out of that stage. Literally.
I got so fat that I couldn't get laid
even if I had the urge.
4. ATM: The Lizard King lacked
the urge?
JM: Yeah, sex was like any
other drug I played with. After a
while I didn't get 'high' from sex,
I got burned out.
5. A TM: What about your
poetry and films?
JM: The films and poetry
could have been great, but since I
was always on drugs, I now think
they're crap.
6. ATM: What are you proud
of?
JM: That I took off and
still had my pride. Groups stay
around too long. Look at Crosby,
Stills, and Nash and Starship.
They used to be great. Now I

This week's video store to be reviewed was Home Video Exchange. Home Video Exchange is located at
4309 Buffalo Road, between Burger King and Fantastic Sam's.
Assistant manager Lisa Malina provided all the details involved in getting a membership. She said the
only restrictions were that the person be 18 years of age and produce a valid driver's license. The
membership fee is $9.95 for a year or $29.95 for a lifetime.
A member can rent as many movies at a time as they want. The movies are $l.OO a night and $2.00 for
new releases. The late fee is $l.OO per day.
What about if you donn't have a VCR? Well, you're in luck--they rent those also. The charge is $7.00
a night, $lO.OO for three nights, and $16.00 for the week.
Home-Video Exchanges selection was similar to that of Giant Eagle and Video U.S.A. There is a tape
to suit everyone's taste. It all comes down to comparison shopping and where you will get the most for
your money.

7. ATM: Is it good to be gone?
JM: A lot of the time it's
better to be gone. Leading the life
of a celebrity can kill you.
8. ATM: Do you miss
singing?
JM: Every day. I would
love to sing in front of
thousands, but now I only sing
for myself.
9. ATM: Do you keep up with
American politics?
JM: I am only interested
in freedom.
10. ATM: Well, do you follow
Live Aid and Amnesty
International?
JM: At the base they are
great ideas, but people can't see
how shallow Sting and
Springsteen are.
11. ATM: What do you mean,
"shallow"?
JM: I won't explain, but
people should constantly re
examine who they admire. They
might not be who they think
they are.
12. ATM: What do you think
of the music that came out of the
70's?
JM: I'm glad that I left
before the leisure suit and disco
music arrived.
13. ATM: And the music of
the 80's?
JM: In the early 80's,
nothing much happened. Led Zep
and the Who were dying off. Now
we have a new surge of music -
more folk and more hard rock. I
like them both a lot.
14. ATM: If you were to be in
a band now, which would it be?
JM: Really I don't
know. I do know that I would
like to come up through the
ranks by playing in tons of bars.
I think I'd like to be in a
Southern band.
15. ATM:
haunt you?
Does anything
JM: Lots of things, like
I think I left the lights on in the
hotel in Paris.
16. ATM: How about
something more serious?
JM: Yeah, one thing
bugs me. I might have a kid out
there - maybe more than one -
and I'll never know that kid.
17. ATM: Did you enjoy
working with the Doors?
JM: Hell, yeah! We
fought, but man, the way I
looked at life then was that I
wanted to do it all. The only
problem was that I was always
stoned. I might have done it all
but not known it.
18. ATM: Did you do a lot of
drugs?
JM: I can't remember, I
was probably stoned at the time.
19. ATM: Any advice to
people reading this? - _ •
• JM: If they' can read
this, they are smart enough not
to take advice from me!
20. ATM: What about the
future?
JM: I don't want to
know what's to come.
Reed in the Reed
Earl Reed during his January 31th performance
in the Reed Union Building's Lecture Hall. The
act was extremely well attended and well
received. Admission was free, and the crowd
enjoyed Mr. Reed's visit. His two hour show
was full of energy and vitality.
