The Cut Dlreet. ,-. i
A Mr. Mewins was courting a young
lady of some attractions, and something
of a fortune in the bargain. After a
liberal arrangement had been made, for
the young lady by her father, Mr. Mew
ins demanded a little brown mare, to
which he had taken a particular fancy ;
and this being absolutely refused, the
match was broken off. After a couple
of years the parties accidentally met at
