From Iter. N. P. Granger,
Presiding Elder of the Bt. Albans District.
- St Albans, Vt.. Jan. 20th, I8S0.
DR. J. B. KENDALL & CO., Gents: In reply
to your letter I will say that my experience with
Kendall's Spavin Cure has been very satisfactory
indeed. Three or four j ears ago I procured a bot
tle of your agent, and with It, cured a horse of
lameness caused by Spavin. Last season my
horse became very lame and I turned him out for
a few weeks when he became better, but when I
put him on the road he grew worse, when I dis
covered tlmt a rlnabune was forming, I procured
a bottle of Kendall's SDavlu Cure, and with less
than a bottle cured him so that he Is not lame,
neither can the bunch be found.
Uespeclfully yours,
P. N. GRANGER.
Perseverance Will Tell !

know how long the Spavin had been there. I
have owned the horse eight months. It took me
four months to take the large one off, and two
months fur the small one. I nave used 10 bottles.
The horse Is entirely well, not at all stiif.and no
bunch to be seen or felt. This Is a wonderful
medicine. It Is a new thing here, but if tt does
for all what it has done for me Its sale will be very
great, Respeotfully yours,
CHAS. E. PARKER.

F. MORTIMER. New Bleontleld, Pa
A little girl was told to spell fer
ment and give Its meaning, with a sen
tence In which it was used. The follow",
ing was literally her answer : "Ferment
Is a verb, signifying to work. 1 love to
ferment In the garden."
(y" Not one American woman In
twenty five can walk five miles," says
an English physician. Bee here, Doc.
you just show an American woman a
street Ave miles long, with bonnet-stores
every ten rods, and see if sh can't walk
the whole distance.
A young city chap who thought him
self smart, while walking in the coun
try met a demure-looking fellow riding a
jackass. Thinking to have some fun, he
saluted the man by saying, " Hallo I
how far are you two going It"
He was rather set back by the reply
he got, which was, ' Ab far as your
sister will carry me." '
Goods at half price," said the
sign. " How much is that teapot ?"
asked the old lady who had been attract
ed by the announcement. " Fifty
cents, mum." " I guess I'll take it
then," she said, throwing down a quar
ter. The dealer let her have the teapot,
but took in his sign before another cus
tomer could come in.
IJjT An old gentleman of the name of
Qould, having married a very young
wife, wrote politlal epistle to his friend
to inform him of it, and concluded thus :
"Bo you see, my dear sir, though I'm eighty years
old,
A girl of eighteen Is In love with old Gould."
To which his friend replied : '
"A girl of elgligen may love Gould It Is true ;
But believe me, dear sir, It Is gold without U."
Mamma: " Well, Johnny, I shall
forgive you this time, and it's very pret
ty of you to write a letter to say you're
sorry."
Johnny: "Yes Ma. Don't tear it
up, please."
Mamma: "Why not V"
Johnny : " Becaus it will do . for the
next time."
tST " I say, Sambo, were you ever In

" No, Julius, neber ; was you V "
" Well, I was, Sambo."
"Didn't it make you feel good V"
"Yah! but golly, next mornin' I

"I never shall give you nothing
again," said little she with a pout.
"Well, I sh'd hope you'd give better
grammar than that. That's two nega
tives, sis, and means one affirmative."
"I know better. If I say no twice I
don't mean yes once, so now." And
the young grammarian was a little con
fused. 6"A clergyman In Pittsburg lately
married a lady with whom he received
thesubstantial dowry of $10,000 and a fair
prospect for more. Soon after, while
occupying the pulpit, he gave out a
hymn, read the first four stanzas and
was reading the fifth,
" t orever let my grateful heart
His boundless grace adore,"
when he hesitated and exclaimed,
"Ahem I The choir will omit. the fifth
verse," and sat down. The congregation,
attracted by his apparent confusion,
read the remaining lines :
"Which gives ten thousand blessings now
And bids me hope for more."
63" A Savannah woman's curiosity
gave her a good scare the other day. She
found a black pint bottle in her husband's
favorite closet, and of course uncorked
and smelt it. She didn't smell anything
in particular, but it was too heavy to be
empty, and she tipped it over a little.
A small green snake fell out into her
hand. Whew 1 didn't she yell, howl,
jump, dance and run. The police came,
but as one of them expressed It "De
snake had went." ,.
dTHe opened the door, cautiously,
and poking bis bead In in a suggestive
sort of way, as if there was more fol
lowing, inquired:
"Is this the editorial rinktum V"
"The what my friend ?"
"Is this the rinktum tinktum sank

This Is the editorial room ; yes, sir.

"No I guess I wont coma In. I want

all. Looks like our garret, only wuss.
