Ho wore a hat and coat identified as Reeves'. Why Davis assumed part in tho melancholy affair is one of the the mysteries that will probably never be revealed, but whatever it was he paid tho ponalty with his lifo. Koovos disappeared that night and has not yet boon heard from. Indictments for murder in the first degree wore prefered against tho three brothers, when they gave bouds for appoarauco. The trial has been continued from torm to term until now, a special vouiro of forty men having been summoned. A Terrible Situation. A Tronton special dated Monday, Bays ; An old man named Charles Yopp diod here yesterday after being buried alive for nearly twenty hours in a swamp buck of the city. Yopp wont out a few days ngo to gather water-cresses, nccompanied by a little dog. On the following afternoon tho dog's persistent lurking attractod the attention of a Mrs. Gilbert, whose husband has a small farm bordering on the swamp. Sho went to the spot whence the sound proceedod and was horrified to discover the head and shoulder of a man, who wa evidently exhausted and unconscious, protruding from the black mud. One hand clung to a tuft of grass and the other Was extended. Mrs. Gilbert weut nfter her husband, mid tho two with other help, returned to find the man sunk still lower and still sinking. To extricate him was a work of great difficulty and took sevarl hours' time, but 'it was finally accomplished by means of fence-rails and ropes. The man was then taken to Gilbert's bouse, and in half an hour he revived sufficiently to say that his name was Charles Yopp and to tell iu a broken way the story of his adventure, lie was attempting to get bold of a fine bunch of water-cresses, when he dropped his basket into what looked like a lllled-up ditch. He jumped in after it and sank instantly, and to his amazement found that something seemed to be drawing him still further down. His body was paralyzed by fear, and he cried for help with all his might, but in vain. At length, being still powerless to move, he abandoned himself, as he supposed, to death. Night came Boon, however, and with it a slight revival of his strength. He had now suuk to bis hips, and although be felt stronger there was nothing within reach upon which he could lay bands. He thought be sunk at the rate of an inch on hour. The night seemed fearfully long, and beforo it passed be fell Into a stupor and knew no more until he found himself in Gilbert's bouse, surrounded by strange people, who wore rubbing hi limb and pouring whlnky down his throat. Farmer (lllliert brought tho story to Trenton, and nu Thursday nlghtthonld man wa brought homo. It was hoped that bo would oomo around aftor all, but on Friday ho grow weaker and yestorday ho died.
